Hi,
I joined WebMaster Quest on 3/5 and can easily provide my welcome letter. Yet, my profile shows that the credit was denied. I'm confused. I'm a free member.
What does this mean?

Hi there, Getref basically prescribes to the same principle as ebay. All users are given the same leeway, and then you build a feedback rating based upon how many times you have accepted a request, and how many times you have been accepted a request. What I'm saying is, because that person denied you credit, his feedback rating went down. You can cancel your webmasterquest account, and then rejoin under someone else if you want, because you were declined you will still be able to join under someone else. Jay

Thank you, Jay, for that answer.
Why would someone deny credit? I purposely chose someone who had no referrals to help them out. Sheesh.
Thanks again,

I was declined credit and I don't know what I did wrong. Some programs have my "username" as my e-mail address but also assign me an ID number. If I don't have any referrals yet, I'm not able to figure out which one my upline will see. It would seem that my referrer would try to contact me to ask for more information if they couldn't confirm that I actually signed up. I'm just a little disappointed that I already look like a bad guy (only two days after I registered for GetRef) even though I'm trying to play by the rules. I think having a feedback system is good...eBay for example depends on it for the site to work. However, for now I don't have any recourse for what I think is an unfair credit declination except to speak my mind here. Also, if people look at my feedback report, they have no way of knowing why or how I was declined credit, or whether I was the one who declined credit to someone else. On top of the gazillion other things the webmaster has to do, it might be nice to implement a similar feedback system that eBay has, so that if someone fires off a declination that should have been an acceptance, I can explain to whomever views my stats that this wasn't fair. This puts a little more burden on referrers to help the referrals verify their signups. If people don't have time here to dig a little to verify signups (that they will benefit from anyway!) then they really shouldn't be using GetRef (or any other referral exchange for that matter!) Thanks for this site, by the way. Great idea! I wish that I would have found it sooner. mbhunter ------------------------------- Spend less the easy way at www.mightybargainhunter.com

Hi mbhunter, What you suggest is an awesome idea, and it's something that I have thought about for a while. It will eventually make it into the system, but on a list of priorities, it is a ways down the list so I wouldn't expect it any time soon. What I can suggest to you is this, keep using this system even though you have been declined already once in the first 2 days. Most people do not decline transactions only a very small percentage, so if you are a good user over the long run, you will get a good feedback rating. Also don't expect to have a flawless feedback rating, there will always be cheats, that's just the way it will be. I can do everything possible to eliminate all the cheaters, and there will still be a couple that try to screw you, or the system. Lastly, and I can't stress this enough, buy gold memberships. Running this system is expensive for me on many levels. It takes an enormous amount of time each week to maintain it (time I don't get paid for), and not only that, I have to pay an out-of-my-own-pocket expense each month to my host to cover the database warehouse, the web server etc... If it wasn't for gold members this site wouldn't even exist. Thanks, Jay

And it's smart to be a gold member... Not only do we keep Jay in business, which I sincerely WANT to do, but you'll get random referrals. GetRef referrals are great! I get to list a program once a week on average, through the actions of mine, in addition to the points I get from joining programs myself. I'm very pleased that I made the decision to fork over the cash. Think about it. Pat M. Opportunity Village ovweb.net
