Hey guys,
After a LOT of thought on the issue, I decided to make three big tweaks to the internal rules of GetRef.
We will try this for a week or so and see what everyone thinks.
First effective today, if you have a promoter rating above 0 (not 10 like previously) you will be able to decline a transaction without penalty, for anyone who has an earners rating of 10 or less. (not 2 as previously).
I am hoping that this will give more power to the promoters, I only hope that promoters will not abuse this power by attempting to get the earners to buy products. Remember GetRef is supposed to be promotion of free sites only.
That is the first two tweaks, the third tweaks is that I took out the restriction on earning by clicking, now anyone can click to earn as long as their total rating exceeds 0 (not 5 as previously). I will be watching this one closely though, and if we get autoclickers again I will quickly remove this one.
Feedback, as always is appreciated. I hope this will help promoters have another tool in getting referrals for your site.
Jay

My feedback: About first and second tweak I agree basically, but abuses from promoter will be more frequently, also no one will exchange free credits ;D cause they do not need to do that anymore; before it was too high cause if I had a rating of -1,-2, I have to spend about 20 credits to get my promoter rating higher, now I have to promote only. without any expenditure. So I think the magic number should be 3 for 5, or 5 for 5! A promoter with rating of 3 can decline user with a rating of 5 without penalization, or better a user with a rating of 5 could decline a users with a rating of 3 (or 5) without penalizations. About clicking links autoclickers will come back also I guess multiaccounts should be banned anyway. My opnion as ever

Thanks Jay, I appreciate that you are making changes. How about basing it on both earners and promoters ratings? Claudio's suggestion seems good- maybe require a 5 promoters' rating (to show they are making an effort) and a 5 earners' rating (to show that they are not scamming promoters and are good members of the community).
As for the earn by clicking part, I'm indifferent to be honest. I've never used that part of the site to earn credits, and with the payouts per click I don't think people have much of a right to expect anything more than just blind hits.

Jay, How tough it is to rename the "Message Board" to "Forum" ? Claudio, More free credits might flow coz now people may not like to get declined because of Protoer ratings less than 10 . But yeah I too liked your other suggestion

Agreed--Forum is more the point and it IS what we call it.

You should have to have at least an Earners rating of 1 to earn by clicking. I do it just to help the donkeymails people out (since I use donkeymails too, hopefully I can get helped someday by them). That will also encourage at least some people to earn by joining a program just so they can earn by clicking.

What happened to the "Drag this link..." option on the link clicking where you didn't need to individually open all the ads? It used to just automatically load the next one.

Matty, I think you are mistaken. There has never been anything that automatically opened links. Perhaps you have been using an illegal program? If so, bye-bye.

there is and still works
"Make this link your favorite, or your homepage, and get credits each time you open your browser Drag this link onto your Home button to make this your Home Page. ""
this is under earn -> earn credits by clicking links
it loads page - runs the timer - after timer is out you need to press "credit" and then it loads next one
on the title it says "frameset document" - i do not think that is something bad as part of getref ...

I've asked Jay to comment on this, but meanwhile here's what I think:
That link is supposed to be there to make the Earn page your Home and open every time you start your browser. The function aamdiv describes is there; it runs the ads and it does credit your account. However, since it does NOT present you with either of the captchas that Jay has very deliberately put into the process to stop bots and cheaters, I doubt it was something he intended for use. I would call it an exploit of questionable legality, and I would suggest that you NOT use it.

Hey Guys, This was some functionality that I left in place and has been around for years. It is NOT used very much, so I didn't enhance it with the captcha. I kind of watch and can tell when and where people are cheating, and this hasn't been used by cheaters over the years, so I just sort of left it. Yes use it if you'd like. I don't actively maintain it though. If I notice it being used by cheaters (bots) I will just remove it. Jay
