Hey Guys, I worked all day yesterday and the day previous to build some new functionality.
Soon, you will be able to buy a text ad on the main page, with credits. I have implmented it as a bid system, where you make an offer of how many credits you wish to bid for how many days you wish to bid for, and I will activate the best offers.
I have already built the user portion, I am working today on building the administration portion, and then I have a bit of clean up work, i hope to have a first version activated of it within the week.
Thanks, Jay

Quick update,
Ok so I think I have a good basic administration form now that does the bare bones what I need to do. I am now going to work on the client display ad portion, and then allow a few people purchase an ad with credits on the login page.
I am looking for people interested in putting their text ad on the main page for 1 day only, your cost will be one credit. If you are interested in being involved in the beta test, make a post on this thread, people that post first will be sent the link.
Thanks, Jay

Ok Hi again everyone, I have built the functionality for bidding and putting a text message into one of 4 available spots on the main getref page. I am opening it up for beta testing, preference will be given to aamdiv, and malkiaaaaa, because they responded first. After you log into getref, copy and paste the following URL into the browser bar, www.getref.com/maintainad.aspHopefully it is self explanatory, suggestions and bug fixes are welcome. You only got ONE shot to submit the ad, and you cannot edit it once you submit it. So make it say what you want it to say. If you are going to put a link to another site, make user you use the following syntax. <a href='http://mysite.com' target='_new'>My Link Text</a> I know it's a bid rough, but I will improve the functionality over the next couple of weeks. Please do not put more than 1 day bid, and 1 credit per bid for this first round of testing. Thanks, Jay

Hi Guys,
Thanks for participating in the beta.
Couple of things, first off aamdiv, your ad looks great, thanks for that, you can check it out on getref.com/index.asp now. I am logging hits to it too.
malkiaaaaa, i didn't add your advertisement, because it was too long and caused the page to stretch out disproportionally. Also, you didn't include a hyperlink with the text message, so the ad really didn't link to anything. I need to decrease the amount of characters I allow in that spot, and I also have to make the addition of a url much easier to manage.
This is just the first pass through guys, I like to develop things in this way, it allows me to get functionality out faster.
Thanks, Jay

malkiaaaaa If you want resubmit another ad bid request. Try to remember to put the hyperlink in, and think about the amount of real estate that is available there. If you aren't a coder, maybe post your ad here with the link and I'll see if i can help. Jay

Ok if anyone else would like to try and put thier ad up, you can put 1 credt for 2 days now if you want. Use the link that I specify in the post above.
There should be two spots avail, bottom left and bottom right.

well malkiaaaaa, i submitted a bid for you (with your clickSence ref link)
i believe it was with correct syntax and should work
if that will not work i would like to know reason what is wrong ..
few suggestions:
after i placed a bid - for few moments i got confused if it was successful as i was returned (well actually stayed) at the page where i need to choose a place for a bid - so i thought - something wrong and i need to do it again but then i saw small note on the top that the bid was added
i suggest ( in order to avoid multiple bid for one ad) after successful bid - state that in completely new page ..
also i see that all info from URL box was used (link and name for the ling - as well as the direction to new window) but i do not see there entered info ( such as description, and title) goes?
- to make adding text ads painfully simple i suggest: make a form with fields name for a link: link: days: credits:
and then form, uses data check to see in link is full (http included) .. and together with name box automatically forms up a text ad - no thinking at user side at all.
or even to include "test ad box" there user could check if ad works and if needed could fix info
this can be made as second choose-able option - just to copy all text ad code to the box - as many affiliates sites provides with complete texts ad codes
choosing between options ( manual or copying) could be simple drop down box - to avoid confusion and filling up both
hope this will help to improve
P.S it is my fifth time i modify post - if you see any more logical mistakes missed by spell checker (bed instead of bid) just ignore it is 2:12 AM here
(Jacki corrected a couple more typos that were confusing.....)

I did find the form confusing, but aamdiv's suggestions sound good.
