ok thanks for the feedback guys. Look for a lot of improvements over the next couple of days. I'm hoping to release it to the entire site in about a week or so. In the meantime, you get some very cheap advertising (about 10000 unique hits per day to the mainpage). Jay

Update:
I worked on this for a few hours tonight, now ads should be expiring correctly after the time is up, and you should be able to see the different ads you have created, and the status of the ad will be evident.
Also, here you can see what the ad will look like here.
Lots of fixes and enhancements here. Looks like my estimate of 10000 unique hits per day was not too far out of whack, the first ad I put up got 9700 exposures in 24 hours.
Thanks, Jay

Hey Jacki, can you please submit another ad request? I can't put that ad there because it takes up too much space. Maybe try to keep it to about 40 or so visible characters (a hyper link is ok if you make it like the ads that are there)

I am apparently not understanding the form at all. Is "The text of your advertisement" the line that shows? Having that box allow 100 characters is confusing. IS ad description the link? Re-submitted, but probably still wrong.

Hey Guys, Ok there's three spots. You'll see at the top of the maintainad.asp page that the ads you have submitted are grey if they have not been accepted. Feel free to submit an ad request for 5 days now, 1 credit again. Make it so the visible part (not the a href link) is about 30-40 chars. Jacki, can you please try to make your ad wrapped by a link tag? it would look like this <a href='http://mylink.com' target='_new'>This is the part that should be 30-40 characters</a> I know the form isn't great right now, don't worry I will improve it, but for now I'm working on many aspects of this new functionality so bear with me. In the mean time you guys get the benefit of getting an ad on my main page for dirt cheap, as long as you guys help me out in the testing.

just submitted bid few notes already noticed:
it said i have two ads running :
one i had setup first and one i set up for malkiaaaaa
however only one was active (and only one should be) - just activity status was wrong, while expiration date was correct (and past)
after i pressed place bid link - i was logged out - (well not sure about that as i was first looking the way to get in the "place bid" part through main website- until remembered link in forum- and could be that i left it logged of ...)
after log on on the top there was notification about successfully placed bid
i checked the link again - nothing visual about last bid ..

Thanks, Jay

Very odd. Now the link won't take me to the maintain ad page, just back to the login.

Thanks for the bid! Yes I am hoping to eventually let users immediately reactivate a bid, if they are the previous spot holder.
This is my work plan for the week.
Fix Maintain Ad page, users can add new ads easily, user will have an option to wrap the entire ad in a URL (or part of it).
User can pick background color of advertisement.
At this point I will release the functionality to the entire getref community.
In the coming weeks..
I hope to expand this functionality, so that users will be able to buy ads on different pages within GetRef, and will be advertise GetRef programs within GetRef. This will allow people to increase the number of people that view their getref programs.
Eventually.. I have a very exciting plan for this functionality, however I don't want to reveal my hand on it yet.
Thanks for your patience, Jay
