Hey All, Today I started noticing that some person was attempting to log into all accounts by entering the user name, and then a password that equalled the username. I put in a catch for this now, so if you try to log into GetRef and your password is the same as your username, you will NOT login, you will instead be directed to a page that asks you to email me to have your password reset. You will only be able to reset the password to the email account that you registered getref under. If you do not have access to that email address, you will need to otherwise prove to me that you are who you say you are. I also put a catch in the regsiter page that disallows new account creation if your password is the same as your username. This should cover all the possibilities. Yours, Jay

Good!
Any chance you could go through and ban everyone on the Current Scammers List? Then we could start a new list of new jerks, safe in the knowledge that the old jerks had been neutralized.

I was thinking of adding a new feature where certain people maintain a list of known scammers (within getref) and people can subscribe to the list or not. It's hard to just go through and ban uniformly based upon the word of one user, because what if the person is just making a story up for revenge? I'm thinking of how to implement it right now.

we are not fast to add user to scammers list I check his feedback his rating who did he decline - are they trust-able? how old his account etc - well anything suspicious (i love kind of detective jobs) if it is old account - will numerous declines (as earner and/or promoter) was declined (or especially declined ) well known and respectable users that account most likely make its way to scammers list (for example: www.getref.com/usercomments.asp?username=MONEY_KING_1986www.getref.com/usercomments.asp?username=MONEY_KING_1986While his rating are high he is reported over and over again looks like he scams from 2012 as there is no single good earn after that time he was declined by NOBODY194 - his feedback is perfect and so on ... - by saying he is scammer - somehow i have no a slightest doubt. P.S. He scammed me as promoter on Easyhits4you while i was a newbie - i had to destroy account and joined under someone else (bd777-hapy him ) but if account is brand new and have few declines - he still need to learn system - and i would never add that person to list

While i was 100% sure that the user was scammer at the time he got to the list there still is slight possibility that few users who was scamming before - now understood that there is better benefit from being honest and act like that ... so my suggestion for action would be like that: for some reason i couldn't make table work here i tried to change "<" to "[" - as it was added if i press button to add table removed colspan, border paramatres, and still nothing so i posting raw code and place to see it : www.w3schools.com/html/tryit.asp?filename=tryhtml_tables<table border="1"> <tr> <th>Rating</th> <th colspan="5">inactivity time</th> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> <td>>6 men</td> <td>>3</td> <td>active</td> </tr> <tr> <td>only/highly negative</td> <td>Delete</td> <td>Delete</td> <td>Delete</td> </tr> <tr> <td>negative</td> <td>Delete</td> <td>Delete</td> <td>Lock</td> </tr> <tr> <td>low</td> <td>Delete</td> <td>Lock</td> <td>Lock</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Hight</td> <td>Lock</td> <td>Lock</td> <td>Lock</td> </tr> </table> where i suggest lock - user attempting to log on gets message what his account is locked and redirected to forum where he can defend his position - i believe if he understand he is scammer he will just let it go and the ones who will ask for review in forum we will review again and see if their claim is valid - it should not be many additionally (if it is not too complicated) every user whop was locked gets email stating so users who did not respond to lock warning during one month a simply deleted - this should clean up database - (and we will get some new fresh scammers ) i also would expect few angry people .. if you think it is too excessive - i would not oppose just deleting all users from scammers list - if you got there - there must be a reason

I know from years ago that people would just add new users to the scammer list most did not read how to or faq of getref. I was declined years ago from a very high rated user like under 10 seconds after going to the page to join the program they had on getref. I did not bother adding them to the scammer list but I am sure there are others that do not give enough time for someone to read the info for there site and then join. I would suggest a new feature to prevent the promoter from doing this I always give members trying to join a program of mine at least 2 days. Maybe a clock with something like 10 hours which prevents a promoter from banning someone so quick might be a good idea. Time zones always mess me up so sometimes it is hard to work out how long someone last clicked your program link to join your program and some programs have a lot to read before you join them. Banning everyone on the scammer list would be a mistake as I have had users message me and I walked them through what they needed to do and then it was all good. Other users are far to trigger happy and quickly add them to the scammer list which I do not consider to be accurate and don't bother with it. Anyway this is just my thoughts on it.

Only Claudio, aamdiv & I add people to the list. Members suggest people, but we look at the records--if you read the thread you will see many, many times that one of us has said "one screw-up does not make someone a scammer". An individual with Gold is free to ban whomever they wish and it affects only his/her programs. What I would like for Jay to do is permanently remove the proven bad-apples who have gotten themselves so many red reports that they've been added to the list. Many of those folks got the message and left GetRef, but there are still some scamming newbies, and that hurts all of us.
