Hi All,
I have thought long and hard about this problem, and I think I might have a solution that will satisfy everyone's concerns and still keep the integrity of the feedback system.
What if I was to allow a gold member to once every pre-determined time period (if that member had adhered to the pre-described conditions) erase one decline from their rating.
One decline would be removed from their rating. The transaction would still show up in your history as being declined, but to all users the decline would appear as though it was removed.
This is my idea, I look forward to you suggestions.
Jay

That's not a fix, it's a workaround. The cheaters are still getting away with their game.
I know how I would do this, make it a violation of policy to put a username in the box if you did not even join. Point this out in BOLD LETTERS above the box.
So how do you punish the guilty if they deny it?
Simple, I would be willing to give you my logon info so you can go into my back office and SEE that they did not join. At least we could get some of the cheaters banished and I would banish their IP address too. They are killing a beautiful program.
If furnishing logon info is to high a risk, then how about the damaged person being able to submit a screenshot as proof they are not on his referral list. I would even donate a video to show how to screen capture in Windows for everyone to use.

Thanks, I wont bother adding this solution. First off nobody seems to care that I came up with this idea (other than you oldbuddy), nor does anyone want to offer me other solutions. Everyone seems content to bash the site. Jay

It's still the best thing I have seen yet, so until they can code up a better solution I wouldn't pay much heed to them. You're doing a great job and you have my loyalty.

Jay, Although I'm not a Gold Member (yet!) I think Gold Members will probably see this as a move in the right direction. Knowing that you aren't 'permanently' penalized for something that can't be helped is at least SOME consolation. As for as a a true solution, Oldbuddy, the screencapture idea is good but I'm not sure who all would be interested in taking the time to do it - we've done what we can in the spirit of fair play and now we have to do 'even more' to get the justice we feel we deserve? Maybe start a poll and take a vote on who's willing to follow this route. I would like to see a list down the side of each page on this site listing those members who are on 'suspension' for not signing up when the said they did and for those who DO sign up but never 'work' the sites they signed up for. Then anyone on the 'suspended' list would have to wait a predetermined amount of time before they could sign up again with anyone. Once suspension is over, they would be on 'probation' - meaning that people don't HAVE TO allow them to join their site even if the 'person on probation' requests it - and NO negative would be applied! (why should there be a negative; this person is a risk that some people won't want to take!) Anyone who DOES decide to take a chance with this person and allows them to sign up on their program would have, let's say, 2 months to watch and see how active they are on the site (1 offer a week completed or 1 spin of the wheel a week or whatever the site requires). If the person on probation is not active, the person whose program they joined would be REIMBURSED their credits with no negative rating and back to suspension the offender goes, but now with a CHECKMARK by his name showing this is the 2nd time in suspension. After the 3rd time, this person's account should be deleted. The offender WOULD, in fairness, have the right to submit evidence of his actions (the 'welcome email' showing he joined the site, those screenshots Oldbuddy is gonna help us with showing completed offers, etc.) There could be a special area here on the forum, a tribunal if you will, composed of maybe 3 members that would render judgment on the 'stickier' cases with you, Jay, being the final voice in the matter. Hmm, is there a way, Jay, you can send an email message to all members (Gold Members) at their actual email addresses (not the internal mail system) asking them to visit the forum and make their thoughts known? If they are anything like me, I only check the forum a couple of times a week - just too much to do and not enough time! roni

Not nearly as complicated as showing up in court with reams of documentation and expensive lawyers at your table like in the real world, is it? I can do a screenshot in 10 seconds and it's free.

That IS quick! what software do you use for screenshots? (it's been a while since I did one but I seem to recall it being a bit of a chore for me - I'm not real technically inclined though!)

I think I have an idea.
This one might be the clincher.

I use Photoshop Elements but I can do the same with Microsoft Paint. You just peon your back office and do a Alt Prntscrn and paste it into your graphics editor.
